SEVEN out of the past TEN.

Finals week?  Boy?  Vacation being so close? :(

yes to all.  and friend issues.  and general dissatisfaction with my grades.  and the fact that phe won’t be here next semester.

maybe it’s legit.  but i really should get over myself.

No, that’s all very, very legit.  Maybe not individually, but the perfect storm of everything is definitely legit.  :)  Heh, at least we’ll all be done in a few days.  Whether or not we want to be.

:D

Hahaha.  :-D

Although, you should see me take on Modern as well.  By this point I’ve definitely got my Descartes and Kant down (and refuted, I should add).  The existentialists and post-moderns I definitely give to Andy.

I approve. :D I would love to someday see you two go head to head over an area where both of you are good.  I also love how you’re studying monks and love for your honors project, and Andy’s studying evil. 8^D

I think I’m gonna cry.

Anything I can help with?

EVERYTHING.

Well, if you come across any specifics, I’d be willing to explain as best as I can.

You’re wonderful. :D

#5 on the review sheet is killing me. Can you clarify that one?

How’d I know that would be the one you’d ask…

This question is basically asking us to distinguish between per se causality and per accidens causality.

So, let’s take the example of cracked paint on the wall and the sun.  The sun communicates a form as the efficient cause or agent.  Let’s say the form being communicated is “heat.”  The sun, as agent, itself contains the form of heat.  And it communicates that form per se to the wall.  But the effect (that is, the cracked and bubbling paint) is per accidens causality.  Meaning that the effect is accidental to the form being communicated by the agent.

The specific example doesn’t matter all that much…  just remember that it’s all about per se causality and per accidens causality.  When a doctor heals a patience, that is per se causality because the effect is intended by the agent.  When the paint on the wall begins to crack, it is per accidens causality, it is accidental.

Does that help any?

Actually. YES.

YOU GO KAYLA.

Holy crap this post exploded. :D

Whilst reading Aristotle, a strange calm has come over me.

Kayla is new Queen of Metaphysics.

I don’t enjoy studying.

Especially books and writings that aren’t in the New Testament for a course on the New Testament.

Blah.

Is this a silly prot complaint? :D

I feel that it is silly to be studying the Apocalypse of Peter, the Martyrdom of Polycarp, the Acts of Paul and Thecla, etc.

Because they aren’t in the New Testament.

And my course is called, Understanding the New Testament.

Although, to be fair, to understand what’s in the Bible is to understand what’s NOT in the Bible.

Oh, and since I have a feeling you were talking about James, I’ve got a bit of ammunition on that front for when I get back =D

Hmmm, although I see your point, I do think there is merit in studying stuff that’s not in the NT.  It’s good for context.

However, that should really only be taking place after you understand Romans, Galatians, Philippians, Ephesians, 1/2 Thessalonians, 1/2 Timothy, etc.

I love it when people sing. Like, for real sing, without feeling self conscious or anything.

There’s something incredibly honest about it.  It makes me happy.
